About Governor Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello is a Nigerian politician and businessman, born June 18, 1975 in Okene, Kogi State, and the youngest of six children. He attended Local Government Education Authority (Nigeria) (LGEA) Primary School, Agassa in Okene LGA beginning in 1984. He attended high school at Agassa Community Secondary School, Anyava, Agassa-Okene and obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) and Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificates from Government Secondary School, Suleja-Niger State in 1994. Bello studied at Kaduna State Polytechnic Zaria in 1995 and obtained an accounting degree from Ahmadu Bello University ABU Zaria in 1999. Yahaya Bello further enrolled for a Master's program in Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he obtained Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 2002. Bello became a chartered fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria in 2004.

Yahaya Bello's working career started in 2001 when he was posted to the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission for his mandatory National Youth Service. While serving there as a corp. member, he distinguished himself as exceptionally hardworking, resourceful and dedicated young man. His workaholic traits and commitment to duty earned him an uncommon favor as he was offered appointment in the same place he did his primary assignment as Revenue Officer II. Apparently, because of his dexterity and dedication to duty, he was singled out for promotion to the rank of Senior Accountant within a short period. Again, because of his competence and manifest potentials, he was transferred to Makurdi Zonal Office to head the Accounts Department. He rose steadily to the position of Assistant Chief Accountant until he voluntarily resigned his appointment to harness his potentials and professional skills in the uncertain terrain of the private sector. Young Bello invested in Stock Trading Business and luck smiled at him with a financial breakthrough shortly before the crash in the stock market business. His stock portfolio Investment cuts across the oil, gas, banking, transportation, agro-related business, and real estate development. It is indeed heartwarming and reassuring to note that his sprawling and expansive business networks have greatly facilitated employment opportunities for hundreds of unemployed youths and graduates across the country, Kogi State inclusive.

Yahaya Bello started his education early, as a pupil in the primary school, Bello showed and manifested early traits and signs of sharp intellect and proven leadership qualities, when in Primary, he was made the class monitor until he was appointed the school head boy in class six.

Mahatma Mohandas Gandhi, Mao Zadong, Lee Kuan Yew, Muhammadu Buhari, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela are all individuals to who Yahaya Adoza Bello is viscerally related to as a mentee. A passionate believer in the possibility of a world free of war, in the evolution of a racism free universe and in the deepening of values needful for the enthronement of love, selflessness and service among citizens of the world.

Genuinely concerned with what obtains in Nigerian politics and inspired by a propelling vision to sanitize the Augean stable, Alhaji Yahaya Bello along with like-minded progressive young men and women formed a formidable network known as "Kogi Youth Arise Group". Under his articulate leadership, this group was able to mobilize youths from across the 239 Wards in the State and threw its weight behind the candidature of President Muhammodu Buhari which led to the overwhelming victory of President Buhari in the presidential poll.

Like his mentors, young Bello abhors violence and works hard and relentlessly at berthing Kogi as a state where justice, equity and fairness are guaranteed for all persons regardless of class, creed or clan, and indiscriminate of religious or exclusionary tendencies, Yahaya Bello felt challenged and inspired to offer himself for leadership as a change agent in the gubernatorial primaries. Yahaya Bello was the youngest among the gubernatorial aspirants. He polled the second highest vote after late Prince Abubakar Audu. Following the sudden death of Prince Abubakar Audu, fate and destiny brought in the young Yahaya Bello as the elected Governor of Kogi State.

The story of the emergence of Alhaji Yahaya Bello, a multi-talented young man in the prime of his youth as the Governor of Kogi State inspires great hope, and the Governor has proved beyond all reasonable doubt that when honest, sincere, effective, competent, bold and God-fearing leaders ascend leadership, growth, progress, prosperity and profound opportunities becomes a reality. Going by the consummate passion and the driving zeal that Yahaya Bello has brought into the governance of Kogi State, it goes without saying that the young man has come to the pulpit of leadership prepared, resolute, committed and formidably set. Kogi State is better today because of the young man affectionately called GYB, and so predictably shall Nigeria be under the watch of YAHAYA BELLO God willing.

Yahaya Bello is married with lovely kids.
